Adult Education Subvention Scheme

Under the Adult Education Subvention Scheme (AESS), subvention is provided for non-government organisations to run basic adult education programmes within a prescribed purview of the Scheme. In the 2011/12 school year, 104 non-government organisations are subvented to run some 800 adult education programmes within the following purview:

* Basic Chinese literacy courses;
* Computer courses;
* General education courses;
* Social and moral education courses;
* Labour education courses;
* Careers education courses;
* Job-oriented courses;
* Pre-retirement / retirement education courses;
* Reorientation course for new arrivals and ethnic minorities;
* Special education courses;
