Adult Education Subvention Scheme
To equip adults with daily living skills, the Adult Education Subvention Scheme (AESS) provides subvention for charitable institutions exempted from tax under the Inland Revenue Ordinance (Cap.112) to run basic adult education programmes within a prescribed purview of the Scheme. In the 2023/24 academic year, 55 such charitable institutions are subvented to run 589 adult education programmes within the following purview:
- Basic Chinese literacy courses;
- Basic Putonghua courses;
- Basic English literacy courses;
- Basic Computer courses;
- General education courses;
- Courses of social, moral and family education;
- Reorientation courses for new arrivals and ethnic minorities;
- Special education courses.
